Picture very dim but the sound works? It may be the backlight

If you can hear the TV but barely see the picture, the backlight is the usual suspect.
In a dark room, hold a torch close to the screen with the TV on. If you can faintly see the picture, the panel works and the backlight is not lighting it. Don’t press on the screen.
Backlight strips and their driver circuit can usually be repaired at component level without replacing the TV.
